A Town no more - #eatforitaly

On Wednesday August 24th at 3:36 a.m. a magnitude 6.2 quake struck and was felt across a broad swath of central Italy.

Amatrice and Accumoli, 60 miles northeast of Rome, and Pescara del Tronto, about 15 miles further east, were by far the hardest-hit, completely destroyed and leaving a provisional tally of 290 dead, many of them children and has also left ghost towns. More than 1,200 inhabitants had to leave what was left of their homes and find refuge in tents.

Children are the most vulnerable during emergencies and the impact of such events on their psyche is especially traumatic.

We live far away from this tragedy, but our hearts and thoughts are with this poor people that were left with nothing. Unfortunately we cannot be there physically and give our help, what we can do though is donate privately and raise money to devolve to the Save the Children association.

Save the Children, in coordination with the Italian Civil Protection from Lazio Region, will be setting up a child-friendly space, a safe and protected environment where children and young people can receive support from trained staff and participate in various activities. This will allow them to play, socialize, learn, and express themselves as they recover from trauma.

LuMi dining is organizing a special dinner featuring typical dishes from Amatrice on Wednesday the 14th of September starting from 6.30 pm.We will donate the whole cost of the degustation ($115pp) to the save the children association, private donations will be welcomed or can be made here
